Choose Healthy Snacks1

With all of the marketing hype found on food labels these days it can be hard to choose healthy snacks. The following tips were published by Diabetes Australia in 2005 and help to demonstrate that much of the excess fat we eat is disguised in snack foods. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there!

Check out the fat content of these common snacks

Crisps (packet 50g)16.0g fat
1 Doughnut10.5g fat
Peanuts (small packet 50g)26.0g fat
Chocolate (100g bar)27.5g fat


Try these low fat snack alternatives

Popcorn (1 cup)2.0g fat
Low fat yoghurt (250ml)0.5g fat
Scone and Jam4.0g fat
English Muffin and Jam1.0g fat
Fresh fruit0.0g fat
Pretzels (packet 30g)1.0g fat
